Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap-up. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post.

Life Updates

Hi, guys! I hope you’ve all had a great week. Mine was fairly quiet. I went and visited my parents in Florida last weekend, and since I got home I’ve worked almost every day. I also got to spend time with two of my best friends this week. We went out to lunch at one of my favorite spots, and then we took the train to this city right outside Atlanta called Decatur, which just has a bunch of cool shops and restaurants. It was tons of fun! Next week should also be a pretty calm week for me.

Book Haul

I attended the release party of Lauren Karcz’s The Gallery of Unfinished Girls (which I have already read and ABSOLUTELY LOVED) at one of my favorite local indies, so of course I had to pick up a signed copy. I also grabbed My Favorite Thing is Monsters— I’ve had my eye on it for months (it’s my BFF, Emily @ Possibly Literate’s, favorite book of the year), and since I had gotten paid that day, I decided to #treatmyself. I picked up What We Lose at another one of my favorite indies while I was out with my friends, and the last two were on awesome ebook sale this week.

Thanks to these publishers for sending me e-ARCs of these through Netgalley!

Books Read/Currently Reading

I had a good start to #ARCAugust this week! The Little Queen was adorable, but nothing to write home about. Moxie was not perfect, but it’s such a necessary book, and one that I had a great time reading. Echo After Echo became an INSTANT favorite. Broadway theatre setting + murder mystery + f/f romance + stunning prose… seriously, this was an incredible read. I wish more people were talking about it!

Currently Reading:

I haven’t read many thrillers this year (which is strange, because it’s one of my favorite genres), so I’m really enjoying I See You! I’m super intrigued to see where the story goes. I’m also making my way through My Favorite Thing is Monsters (it’s a pretty long, large graphic novel), and I’m loving every single minute of it. The art style is so different, but so gorgeous!

Currently Obsessing Over

Glossier products // I’m having a moment with Glossier as a brand. If you don’t know, they’re a line of skincare and makeup products that advocate the kind of skin-focused, “no-makeup-makeup” look. I didn’t think they’re products would work for me– I love wearing excessive amounts of makeup, okay??– but boy, was I wrong. I love everything I’ve tried from them. The Super Pure serum, Milky Jelly cleanser, Boy Brow, and Haloscope highlighter are my favorites, though.

Shura, Nothing’s Real // One of my coworkers recently introduced me to Shura, and this album is so good??? It’s mellow but a total bop at the same time. And I love her voice!

How was your week? What’s the most exciting book you bought or read? Tell me about your current obsessions!

  1. Yeah! I am glad to read such glowing things about Echo After Echo, because I have a copy of that from BEA. I See You had me looking over my shoulder during my work commute. Enjoy your week!

    • Ah, yay! Echo After Echo has some of the best writing I’ve read in a long time. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! And yeah, I definitely feel a little more guarded when I’m out in public after reading I See You!

  2. Greg Hill

Glad you had a good week! Last call at The Nightshade looks interesting, and I’m really thinking of trying I See You since I’ve heard it’s a good thriller.

    • I haven’t gotten to Spinning quite yet, but Moxie was a fun read! I hope you enjoy it, too. And yeah, the cover for My Favorite Thing is Monsters is intense! The book itself isn’t super scary, though. It’s one of my new all-time favorites!
