Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap-up post. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post.
Hi, everyone! Wow, it’s been a minute since I sat down to actually *talk* to y’all like this! Between Shattering Stigmas taking over the blog for two weeks to work and life getting hectic recently, I’ve missed chatting with everyone. It’s FINALLY starting to feel like fall in Atlanta, and I’m enjoying it so much! This weekend, I have a fun Halloweekend planned! I’m going to Halloween parties both Friday and Saturday night. Next week, my friends and I have plans to get together and marathon the Harry Potter movies, and I cannot wait.
In more bookish happenings, I’m co-hosting a reread of The Infernal Devices trilogy next month in preparation for the release of QOAAD in December! It’s gonna be super lowkey– use the hashtag #infernalreread to participate and chat with everyone!
I was so excited to get approved for A Place for Wolves (thanks, Sourcebooks!), which is one of my most-anticipated debuts of 2019. I won a giveaway for Once & Future on one of the author’s Twitters, and I’m so excited! I realized I had an Audible credit and decided to use it to pick up Bad Blood— a book my BFF Emily couldn’t stop raving about at BookNet Fest this year– to read during Nonfiction November next month.
Books Read/Currently Reading
Y’all, I’ve had such an amazing reading month in October– I think I’m finally out of the semi-slump I’ve been in for a few months now. Everything All At Once was the perfect contemporary(ish) to break up the fantasy I’ve been reading this month; G’Morning, G’Night! was exactly as adorable as expected; and Chemistry was so unique and honest and portrayed mental health in a really realistic way.
Then, I went down a bit of a Shadowhunters rabbit hole. I was planning to wait to read the Ghosts of the Shadow Market novellas until the bind-up of all of them came out nest year, but I asked my friend Jane which of them I needed to read before QOAAD… I read the ones she suggested (#5-7) first, and then I loved them so much that I just, uh, immediately went back to read 1-4, too. NO REGRETS, OKAY? This is Cassie Clare’s best novella series by far. We’re getting a ton of useful context for future books in the Shadowhunter world, and so much quality Jessa content that’s making my heart melt. Definite spoilers for TMI and TID, so proceed with caution!
I need to finish books 3 and 4 of the Ghosts of the Shadow Market novellas, and then I’ll be caught up! I’m also making my way through Outrun the Wind— a sapphic retelling of Greek myth? Yes, please.
Currently Obsessing Over
My friend Chandler started a podcast called Dumb B*tch Book Club and it’s incredible; YOU’RE WELCOME.
How was your week? Have you read any of the books I mentioned?
