Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap-up post. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post.

Life Updates

Once again, it’s been a bit since I’ve posted a weekly rewind! I got back from my New York trip with my best friends last Friday, and ever since my life has pretty much consisted of work, cleaning my apartment/doing laundry/etc., and scrambling to catch up on blog posts and YouTube videos that I’m behind on due to my computer hard drive mishap at the end of last month. Oh, and watching the World Cup, of course! Who are you guys rooting for in the final on Sunday?

Book Haul

I took my friends to The Strand while we were in NYC, and obviously, I couldn’t escape without picking up some books. They have such a great selection of graphic novels, so I picked up two I’ve been really excited about. I checked out the audio of Undead Girl Gang from my library and can’t wait to get into it!

For Review:

I was so excited to see Lost Soul, Be at Peace in my mailbox (thank you, Candlewick!) after picking up Honor Girl (its predecessor) last week! Now I plan on marathoning them back-to-back. Thanks to Soho Press and HarperCollins for the other two pretties– both of which I cannot wait to pick up!

Books Read/Currently Reading

I had a really great reading week! Unclaimed Baggage was awesome– one of my favorite contemporaries I’ve read this year, for sure. I listened to the audiobook of Noah Hypnotik (which, by the way, was a great audiobook), and I enjoyed every second of that weird ride. I couldn’t stop reading. The Wicked King took a while to get into, but I couldn’t put it down after about the halfway point. It was a solid sequel to what’s shaping up to be one of my favorite YA fantasy series. The first volume of The Backstagers was a total joy to read, and I can’t wait to continue the series!

Currently Reading:

I just started Pride and am thoroughly enjoying it so far! I mean, a P&P retelling set in a gentrified Brooklyn? Yes, please. I can’t wait to get further into the audio of Undead Girl Gang.

Currently Obsessing Over

Vintage Vibes Playlist on Spotify // This is pretty much my perfect summer playlist. It’s all recent-ish music releases that have a vintage feel to them.

How was your week? Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What are you currently obsessing over?

  1. Noah was so fabulous. I love David Arnold and he is a total auto-read for me. Yeah for Pride! I downloaded that one not too long ago and am excited about it.

    • This was my first book by David Arnold, and now I need to get my hAnds on some of his backlist! I think you will really enjoy Pride. So good.

  2. Yes we have been all about the world cup here. We are rooting for Croatia. I am so happy you like Wicked King. i can’t wait for it to come out so I can listen to it. And now I will be totally using an Audible credit for Noah Hypnotik. I am always looking for great audios! Have a great week!

    • I am so sad the World Cup is over, but this just means we’re that much closer to next year’s Women’s World Cup! Yes! Noah was a fantastic book all-around, and the narrator of the audio was great. EEP TWK WAS SO GOOD.

    • Pride was so good! It was such a cleverly done retelling, but also just a great story in its own right. I am sooooo excited for We Set the Dark on Fire— I hope so, too!

    • YES WE WERE AND I AM SO HAPPY! I’ve had that experience with both the books in that series so far, and it’s a shame, but they really do become impossible to put down!

  3. Ooooh I need to check out that Spotify playlist you have there! I am all about those playlist! I have heard about the Undead Girl Gang somewhere in BookTube I think…great book selection!

  4. I had the same issue with The Cruel Prince and am experiencing it so far with The Wicked King!! I’m *interested* and enjoying it, but I don’t pick it up or read too much in one sitting, but once it hits the halfway point, I’m done for. Can’t wait to get there in TWK right now!

  5. Ooh you’ve gotten me curious about Unclaimed Baggage. The cover’s so cute, too. ♥ I’m still not sure if I’m going to read The Wicked King since I wasn’t a huge fan of The Cruel Prince–would you recommend it to people who thought book #1 was just okay? 🙂
