Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap-up post. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post.

Life Updates

Hi, everyone! Wow, it’s been a MINUTE since I last posted a weekly rewind. Like, since before BookExpo. OOPS. Honestly, my life has been fairly uneventful since I got home from BEA– mostly just the usual work stuff. Last week, my best friend Kate and I attended a free Atlanta Symphony concert in Piedmont Park! It made for such a nice summer evening. We also went out to eat at a vegan restaurant we’ve been wanting to try for ages, and though it was expensive, it was SO SO delicious. I will definitely go back. This week, I went over to my friend Devon’s apartment to watch the RuPaul’s Drag Race reunion episode together! We drank wine and ordered Chinese takeout and generally had an awesome time. I can’t wait for the finale episode next week (I’m #TeamAquaria all the way, btw!)!

This weekend,  I’m headed back to NYC for New York Pride! I’ll be walking in the parade with the Delta group. I also have tickets to see Hello, Dolly! on Broadway, starring the one and only Bernadette Peters (!!!!!!), on Saturday night. It’s gonna be a whirlwind weekend, but such a fun one.

Book Haul

Purchased:

I attended Morgan Matson’s event for Save the Date last week and picked up a finished copy to get signed– I’m so happy I now own a physical copy of one of my favorite books of the year! I couldn’t resist buying There There when I saw it on display in the indie bookstore where the signing was held. I grabbed If Birds Fly Back because it was an ebook deal, and I wanna read more of Carlie Sorosiak’s work after loving Wild Blue Wonder.

For Review:

Yes, I’m still requesting review books after getting home from BEA *hides in shame*. However, I’m SO SO excited to get to both of these!

Books Read/Currently Reading

Read:

I have a lot of reading to update you guys on! Although Perdy and When Katie Met Cassidy were both letdowns, the rest of what I’ve read the past two weeks has been EXCELLENT. Odd One Out and To Be Honest both had such incredible representation, and I saw a lot of myself in them. City of Ghosts was as awesome as I expected, given Schwab wrote it. Little Do We Know was so unexpectedly emotional and lovely!

Currently Reading:

I am finding Sadie exactly as unputdownable as people say… I NEED to know what happens! I’m also loving the podcast element. I’m also bringing Unbroken with me to NYC, and I plan to start it after I finish Sadie!

Currently Obsessing Over

Queer Eye Season 2 // I mean, duh. Does this even require explanation? I already watched every episode of the new season, and yes, I cried at least once during all of them. (Fun fact: they filmed an entire scene in the market where I work and I FREAKED THE HELL OUT WHEN I SAW IT.)

How was your week? Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What are you currently obsessing over?

I’m so glad to hear that you loved Save the Date. I love Matson’s novels and it must have been a blast meeting her. I love Queer Eye! I just started watching season 2 because I’ve also been marathoning The Vampire Diaries. I’d totally freakout if they filmed an episode where I work.

  2. You have me so amped up about so many books. I have a lot of those books for review, so YEAH!!!! I loved When Birds Fly Back. It was one of my faves last year. I hope you enjoy it too! It has been ages since I went to Broadway for a show (though my daughter is taking me to see Mean Girls for my birthday, because her friends are in the show). Last time I saw Peters in a show was Into the Woods, and I think I was in high school (so, a very, very long time ago). She is incredible! I hope you have the best time.

    • That makes me so happy! I can’t wait to see your reviews on them. I’m also really glad to hear you loved If Birds Fly Back— I’m hoping to get to it this summer. Bernadette Peters was INCREDIBLE and I can’t believe I saw her perform live! Super jealous about Mean Girls; I’m dying to see that one! My friends and I are going to try to get rush tickets for Mean Girls when we go to NYC to see Cursed Child!

Ooh, another trip to NYC and you’re marching in the parade and attending a play? Sounds awesome. I hope you have a blast!

That’s a great set of books that you got and read. I bought Save the Date by Morgan Matson and I can’t wait to dig in. I’m super jealous that you got to see her in person.

    Have a great week!

  4. OOOH ENJOY PRIDE! I was in Canada during the Pride parade there, but alas I was unable to go since, you know, we were busy doing tourist-y stuff. D: Anyway, have an awesome next week! And you’re making me so excited for Sadie!!
