Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap-up post. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post.

Life Updates

Hi guys! It’s just me on the rewind today– Bee is taking a mini blogging break this week. (No worries; she’ll be back soon!) This week was pretty boring, honestly– lots of school and work and other mundane things– but I am happy to say that now, only one final stands between me and summer! Also, next week is shaping up to be a fun one. My best friend and I bought tickets to see Trixie Mattel on her Now with Moving Parts Tour on Monday; Thursday I’m going to a graduation party; Friday my friends and I are headed out (like, to an actual bar. I NEVER GO OUT TO CLUBS OR BARS.) to see our favorite drag queen from the currently-airing season of RPDR, Miz Cracker; and Saturday, Becky Albertalli and Emily X.R. Pan are doing an event here in Atlanta! Plus, I have work and the aforementioned final. Check back in next week’s rewind to see how all of this goes!

Book Haul

For Review:

Thank you to the Kraken Collective for sending me an e-ARC of Baker Thief! It looks adorable. And yeah, I screamed a little when I opened a package from Hachette and found Escaping from Houdini inside. I’m trying to restrain myself from reading it immediately.

Books Read/Currently Reading

Read:

So, I was able to get a lot of reading done this week! I enjoyed all of these, but some standouts:

  • Anger Is a Gift is the most important, honest book I’ve read in a long, long time. Preorder it immediately.
  • Summer of Salt was exactly the fabulist, beachy, magical, queer YA contemporary my heart needed it to be.
  • The Kiss Quotient is quite possibly my new favorite romance of all time. Ever. Great #ownvoices autism rep, wonderfully developed characters, and the most perfectly-paced romance.
  • Heart Berries is one of the best memoirs I’ve ever read. Mailhot’s writing is lyrical and descriptive, and she tackles the subject matter with an honesty I found refreshing.

Currently Reading:

Really enjoying this summery contemporary about four sisters!

Currently Obsessing Over

Listening:

I made a Spotify playlist for this spring, and it’s all I’ve been listening to recently. It’s super simple: all the songs from all my favorite artists that remind me of springtime. Sometimes it’s nice to have all your favorite things in one place, ya know? Anyway, put this baby on shuffle and feel the sunshiney vibes.

How was your week? What are you currently reading? Any current music favorites I should add to my spring playlist?

  1. Is Escaping from Houdini part of the series where the first book is Stalking Jack the Ripper? Because I’ve been hearing so many amazing things about this series, and so badly want to read it asap! I’m so jealous of you that you only have one final left, mine are only starting in May so I’ve been trying to get lots of studying done recently, and failing because I’m apparently the queen of procrastination!

What’s the Last Summer of the Garret Girls like so far? Looks lovely! 🙂

  2. Wow! You had an amazing reading week. I have two of those to read (and review) along with The Garrett Sisters. Glad they were all good reads. Hope you have tons of fun with the friends!

  3. Ahh your upcoming week sounds like so much fun! I hope you have an amazing time. I’m really happy to see you reading and enjoying romance books!! Wasn’t TKQ just perfect? I need my finished copy already!
Have a fabulous week ahead, Madalyn! 🙂
