Weekly Novel Rewind (16)

Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap-up post. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post.

Life Updates

Happy November, guys! I hope your month is off to a great start, and that all of you participating in NaNoWriMo are getting some solid writing time. My week passed fairly uneventfully, despite lots of school stress. I had a huge project due in my Orchestration class this week (which ended up being postponed until next week……… sigh), and we’ve been working on some really challenging music in choir that leaves my brain completely fried at the end of rehearsal. I’ve also dealt with my old pal insomnia this week– not fun. BUT this weekend, one of my friends is getting married! I’m super excited, because this is the first person in my friend group to get married (plus, the reception is at one of my favorite restaurants, lolol).

Book Haul

Bought/Gifted/Etc.:

I OBVIOUSLY preordered the (gorgeous!!!!) collector’s edition of ADSOM, which came out this week. (I also definitely already read all the bonus content.) I got Prosper Redding in my October package from my #OTSPSecretSister– thanks, sis! A few weeks ago, Barnes & Noble had a “buy two, get one free” sale on certain graphic novels, so I picked up the first two volumes of Monstress and the latest volume of Sex Criminals, which just released last month.

For Review:

Huge thanks to Emma @ Miss Print for sending me Starfish through her ARC Adoption Program, Netgalley/Berkley Publishing Group for approving me for the e-ARC of Down by Contact, Scholastic for kindly mailing me an ARC of Turn It Up!, and author Courtney Brandt for sending me a copy of her book for review.

Books Read/Currently Reading

Read:

It was a good reading week, for the most part! White Rabbit delivered on representation, but disappointed me with the actual plot. Starfish was absolutely wonderful– seriously, how is this a debut novel?!– and I wish more people were talking about it (my full review will be up next week). Sex Criminals, vol. 4 was HILARIOUS. Like, maybe the funniest volume yet. I laughed out loud at least five times while reading it. The authors just GET my humor, man. Down by Contact was the m/m romance of my goddamn dreams; IT WAS FANTASTIC. I also adored Seven Ways We Lie! After loving Redgate’s 2017 release, Noteworthy (it’s still my favorite book of this year!), I was anxious to get to her debut, and it did not disappoint.

Currently Reading:

I’m sadly not loving this, but I’m not hating it, either. It’s pretty “meh” so far. It’s only 250 pages, though, so it’ll be a quick read.

Currently Obsessing Over

This new spot called Boba Mocha just opened near campus, and my friends and I can’t stop going! They have the best bubble tea in town, in my opinion, and their prices aren’t outrageous like other local places that serve bubble tea. Also, their menu is huge! I can’t wait to try more of their coffees and teas. There’s also free wifi and a relatively quiet environment in the shop, which are both huge pluses.

How was your week? Did you do anything fun or pick up any exciting books? What are you currently reading?

  1. Have an amazing time at the wedding! I love them, they always make me cry happy tears. I have having such FOMO over Starfish. I should have requested it when I had the chance, but I wasn’t sure, and now I am. I am hoping someone gives me a gift card for Christmas.

    • Thank you! I had so much fun. And I felt the same way about Starfish; I’m really happy I finally lucked into getting a copy for review. You DEFINITELY need to read it, though– it was amazing!

  2. Oooh! I’m currently reading Monstress and it’s so good! I’ve also started Proseper Redding and I think it’s going to be really good. Have a great week 😀

    • Yes yes, volume 1 of Monstress was great and I can’t wait to continue with the series! I’m glad to hear you’re loving Prosper Redding as it’s on my TBR for this month. Thanks, Tracy! You, too. 🙂
