Long before she was the terror of Wonderland — the infamous Queen of Hearts — she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king's marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.

Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

This will be my first book by Marissa and I am so excited for it. Alice in Wonderland re-telling? Hell yeah. That is definitely my kind of story…Also, you guys will probably yell at me because I know that I should have already read The Lunar Chronicles. I’m hoping that once I read this one I’ll finally read the others.  Which book are you guys waiting on?

  1. OMG, I can’t wait to read this one. I loved CINDER, but never continued with the series for some reason, and I love ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Can’t wait!! Great pick 😀

  2. I’m totally going to be that person that yells at you to read the Lunar Chronicles. So, READ IT, CHRISTY.
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this one because I don’t particularly like Alice, but I’m going to give it a chance.

  3. YES, I NEED THIS ONE TOO. I would definitely suggest The Lunar Chronicles, though! I loved every single book in the series which is definitely unusual for me so I hope Heartless gets you hooked on her books!

  4. I am quite keen to read this one! Ever since I heard about it, I’ve been super interested to see with Meyer’s take on The Queen of Hearts will be like. Although, I will probably have to wait a while because I read another Queen of Hearts retelling backstory thing only a few weeks ago.

I don’t think I am especially waiting on anything! I am just pretty keen for all the LGBTQIA+ e-ARCs I have on my kindle ready to read!
