Waiting on Wednesday was created by Breaking the Spine, and is now hosted by Wishful Endings (as Can’t Wait Wednesday). It’s a feature where we show off one of our most anticipated upcoming book releases. Where we tend to add more books to your never-ending TBR.

When Ben De Backer comes out to their parents as nonbinary, they're thrown out of their house and forced to move in with their estranged older sister, Hannah, and her husband, Thomas, whom Ben has never even met. Struggling with an anxiety disorder compounded by their parents' rejection, they come out only to Hannah, Thomas, and their therapist and try to keep a low profile in a new school.

But Ben's attempts to survive the last half of senior year unnoticed are thwarted when Nathan Allan, a funny and charismatic student, decides to take Ben under his wing. As Ben and Nathan's friendship grows, their feelings for each other begin to change, and what started as a disastrous turn of events looks like it might just be a chance to start a happier new life.

At turns heartbreaking and joyous, I Wish You All the Best is both a celebration of life, friendship, and love, and a shining example of hope in the face of adversity.

why i’m waiting

I’ve followed Mason on Twitter for years, and it’s been such a joy watching their journey to publication. I cannot wait to read their book– y’all know queer YA contemporary is My Brand(TM), and I Wish You All the Best features a nonbinary MC, which is hard to find! And if all of that weren’t enough, it was blurbed by my queen, Becky Albertalli. CAN’T WAIT.

Are you as pumped for this one as I am? What book are you waiting on this week?

  1. Omg, I just realized I never added I Wish You All the Best to my GR tbr so I just went to fix that. It’s honestly always so great to watch someone from the book community get a book deal and I feel like I always anticipate their books just a little bit moree.

I am not actually waiting on anything this week but I just remembered Caleb Roehrig’s latest comes out soon and THAT MADE ME HAPPY.

  2. I think I had added this my TBR without even reading the synopsis, because the cover made my heart pitter-pat. Then there’s the friendship, feelings, and family drama that hold the promise of this being amazing.
