Top Ten Tuesday: Why You Should Watch My Favorite Show

Posted January 24, 2017 by Erica || 32 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. I cannot wait to share with you guys my topic for this week. Thank goodness for freebie topics!

This week I’m focusing on the top ten reasons you should watch my favorite show…

Erica’s Reasons

Reason 1:

There really is no explanation needed…two words…Bellamy Blake.

Reason 2:

Badass women. The 100 has amazing characters all around (I mean my first reason shows that), but these badass female leads are perfection. Each of them is badass in their own way, but if you want to feel empowered and like you can take on this world. Keep an eye out for all four of these beauties.

Reason 3:

You never know what is going to happen. The show keeps you on your toes. It goes in directions you never think it is going to go. You always want to start the next episode as soon as the previous one ends. You never want the show to end.

Reason 4:

Character growth. Every character in some way has had something happen to them that has molded them into the character they are going into Season 4. You see characters grow in ways you’d never expect. You also see some characters go down a path you’d never think they’d take. It makes them human and I love that. A lot of shows never allow characters to really “feel” and I just think we can connect with each character in some way and that’s amazing.

Reason 5:

Shipping. You will find a couple, or two, you will ship and you will go down with that ship. You will fight for them. Oh goodness, you will.

Reason 6:

The young adults take over. The kids are the one sent down to Earth to see if there is any radiation left. They are thrown out with really no clear direction. They take this responsibility head on (for the most part). Seeing these young adults take over and totally kick ass in any way possible is really fantastic. I love seeing how they’re these juvenile, irresponsible people and then they take on this new life. This goes back to character growth, too. I just love seeing them grow.

Reason 7:

Friendships. Friendships are there from on The Ark. Friendships born right on the ground. But, then there’s a lot of unlikely friendships that happen and I love that.

Reason 8:

The wonderfully amazing male characters.

Reason 9:

This is a time where the show/movie is better than the books. Now, I can’t say this with one hundred percent certainty because I have not read the books BUT I have some people I trust who are just not at all fond with the books. They aren’t a total disaster it’s just the show is a bajillion times better. I know we’re the bookish community, but just skip the books and dive right into the show. It’ll be worth it I promise.

Reason 10:

All the feels. Like I say above, there are quite a bit of twists and turns so you’ll be on a wild ride…a roller coaster full of different emotions will be coming towards you. & half the time you won’t really know what to do with yourself. You’ll want to jump for joy and then two seconds later you’ll be lying in a puddle of your own tears. Just beware that your emotions are not safe. But, it is 100% worth it.

Disclaimer: these ten reasons are brought to you by a completely crazed fangirl. They may be biased, but they’re really not. I cannot be blamed if you now become addicted. But, I will be here to discuss all things The 100. Also, if you don’t like this show, I don’t think we can be friends. I’m totally kidding…but I may side-eye you a little 😉

Have you guys watched The 100? If not, have I swayed you to give it a try? If you have, who’s your favorite character? & how excited are you for February 1?

It really is a fantastic show and I hope you do check it out. All three seasons are on Netflix 😉 if you ever want to chat while watching, you know where to find me!

The 100 is a pretty great show, sadly, it lost my interest after season three. I watched the first 4 episodes of season 4 and it just felt a little convoluted and I had other shows I wanted to watch more. The extremely diverse characters is one of the best things about the show though, it was the plot of season 4 that I wasn’t really into.
It’s hard to say who my favorite character is, because they are all so very different from each other. Though, John Murphy is possibly the most complex and interesting character to me on the show.

Do you mean Season 3? Or is Season 4 out somewhere else? Cause then I’d be hella jealous. But, yes, the beginning of Season 3 (if that’s what your’e talking about) was meh for me, but it gets better. I hope you pick it back up again. I do love Murphy. He is very complex.

Yeah, season three. My bad. I guess so much happened after I stopped watching the show that I lost track of what season it’s on.

  2. I wanted to watch The 100 when it first came out but then I heard it was a book series so I’ve been waiting til I read the books before I dive into the show. The show looks so good! You have me totally sold. I need to get on to watching the series.

    • Erica @ Novel Ink

Yeah, I suggest not even reading the books (I know, that sounds bad coming from a book lover) but I just don’t think they’re worth it. But, if you want to read them then go for it, but the show is worth it on it’s own 🙂

  3. I agree with all of these reasons! I’ve been watching The 100 since day one and I am SO FREAKING PUMPED for season four to finally start. Lexa is by far my favourite character, but she’s closely followed by Octavia. All of the strong ladies are the best <3

Right? I cannot wait. I’m dying for it to begin. Lexa is an absolutely fantastic character. She allowed so many people to look up to her and feel empowered. She’s just perfect. Octavia, she’s just pure bad-ass. Raven is probably my favorite character. 🙂

I loved the 100 , I need to catch up I only watch the first season. I think that Netflix has them.
Thanks for stopping at our TTT Just Us Book Blog.

  5. These are all great reasons to watch the 100. I’m pretty sure half of the reasons I watch it are based on Bellamy Blake, haha. I can’t wait for the next season to start. They’ve got quite the problem to solve in this next season. Great list!

  6. Lauren

I’ve only watched season 1 so far, but I definitely have to continue on with The 100! I did read the first book (before watching season 1) and in my opinion it was kind of a disaster… the show on the other hand is good! 🙂

  7. I know we talked about this but… YES. Yes to all. And thank you, a million times thank you, for the eye candy that IS Bellamy gifs. 😉 I am so freaking excited for next week. Also, so freaking scared. I don’t even know who my favorite character is because I love them ALL and sure, sometimes they ALL make me mad- because they are so REAL, just like actual people. Another reason, I suppose- the gray area of “maybe there are no good guys” ♥

  8. Pages and Tea

I love The 100, so seeing this post really made me smile, and reminded me to keep a look out for the new season starting soon because I don’t want to miss out 😀

  9. Christina T

I haven’t watched the show yet but I know a lot of people love it. I will have to check it out sometime.

  10. haha I loved this. It’s so true that The 100 has some great female characters! I love Raven & Octavia, they’re my favorite. I have to admit, I’m kind of sick of Clarke though >.< Don't hate me lol

  11. Bellamy should be the ONLY reason people need. THE ONLY. And yes, the relationships are my absolute favorite and it hurts my heart when they are strained (aka Jasper and Monty) and I love with original enemies find some common ground. Ugh this show is so good.

  12. I love this show so much but got discouraged after I saw spoilers of some of my favorite characters dying. Plus from where I stopped in s3, it felt like they were making Clarke out to be a white savior *frowns* BUT I know they added the new season on Netflix so I’m going to watch it from the beginning.

P.S. when I saw the title I just KNEW it was going to be The 100 😛

I haven’t watch the series yet, but I was disappointed by the books. Might actually start watching it now because of this post and the fact that I’ve heard a lot of people saying that series is better than the books.
