Top Ten Tuesday: Madalyn’s Fall TBR

Posted September 19, 2017 by Madalyn || 16 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is the top ten books on our fall TBR. Fall and winter are my favorite seasons, and as a mood reader, my reading tastes during these seasons tend to lean towards more introspective books, as well as books with intricate worlds and atmospheric settings. I’ve divided my list into a couple different categories. Also, as per usual, my list is probably going to include more than ten books, because that’s just who I am as a person.

All three of these come out in either October or November, and I’m so excited to read each of them! They all have very atmospheric settings, which are perfect for fall.

Recent/Upcoming Releases

This also doubles as my list of most-anticipated fall 2017 releases! I’ve already preordered many of these, but I can guarantee I’ll be picking them all up at some point this fall, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Backlist Books

You know how every time I make a reading update, I bemoan the fact that I’m completely failing at my 2017 goal of reading my owned physical books? Well, THAT’S CHANGING THIS FALL. I have some creepy reads picked out for October, and I have a couple other books with atmospheric settings I hope to get to in the next few months.

What books are on your fall TBR? Do we share any choices in common? Also, do you find that your reading tastes change seasonally like mine do?

  1. I’m so excited about Before the Devil Breaks You (though I do need to finish Lair of Dreams), I didn’t even realize this was coming out until a couple of months ago! I’m also looking forward to Turtles All the Way Down. Great list, hope you get a lot of these books read this season!

    You have a fabulous list. And look at all of those gorgeous covers! These should keep you busy for a week or so. LOL The Monster Calls was great. I enjoyed all of the illustrations and scribbles on the pages too. Want to see the movie also.

  3. I’m so excited to see Whichwood on this list, although I haven’t read Furthermore yet :p

    Surprisingly, I’m not as excited about John Green’s new novel as much as everyone is! But I feel like I would be shamed if I didn’t read it since I talk about books on my blog, haha. I actually still have no idea what it’s about!

    Don’t feel bad about not making your physical TBR goals, I am in the same boat 😭 I think I only read something like 12 books from my physical TBR this year, haha. As long as you’re enjoying the books you’re reading, that’s all that matters 🙂

    • Ooh, Furthermore was so cute, which makes me v excited for Whichwood. I totally get that! I wasn’t super excited about his new book until he recently made a video of him reading the first chapter or so, and it totally hooked me. And that’s so true about the physical TBR– why do we put so much pressure on ourselves as readers?!

  4. So many exciting titles on this list! I adored Dodie’s book. I’m not normally a big YouTuber book person, but this was lovely and absolutely wonderful! So excited to read That Inevitable Victorian Thing, and I’m interested to check out John Green’s new book (probably in multiple months when the holds list dwindles at my library haha).

    Amazing picks! My fall TBR books definitely include John Green’s new book (I preordered it in Barnes and Noble with the autograph!), Carry On, and Doll Bones by Holly Black! I have to say that the Tahereh Mafi books intrigue solely because the cover! lol. I have her Furthermore book in my fall tbr!

    • Thanks, girl! I also have John Green’s new release preordered– I bought a ticket to his event in my city the second they went on sale, haha. I can’t wait! Furthermore is a great fall read; I read that one last fall! Hopefully Whichwood is just as awesome. 🙂
