Top Ten of 2017: Newest Book Boyfriends/Girlfriends

Posted December 28, 2017 by Madalyn || 8 Comments

I’m super excited to be participating in the Top 10 of 2017 blog event, hosted by¬†Fiktshun, Two Chicks on Books, Tales of a Ravenous Reader, Dark Faerie Tales, Seeing Double in Neverland, and Take Me Away to a Great Read.

Today’s topic is our top ten book boyfriends/girlfriends/partners of the year. Our choices today had to both be from books we read in 2017 AND books that were released in 2017. I had a lot of fun putting this list together! Without further ado, let’s get into the guys, gals, and nonbinary pals who stole my heart in 2017. (Also, I’M NOT TRYING TO BE CREEPY. When it comes to any YA protagonists on this list, I would obvs only date them if they were my age. I’m not in the business of dating teenagers, thx)

(Covers link to Goodreads)

Jordan from Noteworthy // Jordan and I have so much in common! We’re both bi choir nerds. We’d never run out of things to talk about, and we could go on so many cute music-related dates!

Kell Maresh from A Conjuring of Light // I’ve pretty much been in love with Kell since the first page of ADSOM, and that love still runs strong. He’s sulky and sullen and headstrong and magical and I love him. 10/10 will protect him at all costs.

Reid from The Upside of Unrequited // Nerd love! Reid is such a genuinely nice person. We could eat edible cookie dough and discuss fantasy novels.

Henry from The Names They Gave Us // Henry is the best! <3 He’s an awesome musician and a loveable nerd.

Haskell from Passing Strange // Beautiful blonde (magical) painter girl who would take me to all the cool queer spots in 1940’s San Francisco? Sign me up. (Also, read this novella. It’s so good, guys!)

Porter from Alex, Approximately // Porter was so swoonworthy. He has the wit and the rapport that I always fall for in boys.

Mark Blackthorn from Lord of Shadows // MARK BLACKTHORN IS PRECIOUS AND MISUNDERSTOOD AND I WILL PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS. He cares so deeply for his family and is trying to learn the customs of a world he left for years where he doesn’t really fit in anymore and UGH I ADORE HIM.

Zara from Echo After Echo // Actress with a heart of gold. I loved her.

Thomas Cresswell from Hunting Prince Dracula // Again with the witty boys. Thomas is whip-smart and always cracking jokes, but he’s also super respectful. He’s one of my favorite YA love interests for sure.

Maddy from The Queen of Dauphine Street // I really didn’t care for Maddy in The King of Bourbon Street, but I totally fell in love with her when she was centered in her own book! Sure, she’s ridiculous and over-the-top, but she’s also so kind.

Who are some of your new book crushes from this year?
