ARC Review: Escaping From Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco

ARC Review: Escaping From Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco

It’s no secret that the Stalking Jack the Ripper series has quickly won its way into my heart. So, naturally, I was incredibly excited when an ARC of the third installment in the series, Escaping from Houdini, showed up on my doorstep. However, while Escaping From Houdini was a fun read, it felt significantly less cleverly-crafted than the first two books in the series. Escaping From Houdini picks up shortly after Hunting Prince Dracula left off. We follow Audrey Rose, Thomas, and company aboard the RMS Etruria as they travel from London to New York City to continue their work in forensics. The Etruria has hired a carnival to provide nightly entertainment for its passengers, but things take a turn […]

Blog Tour: The Window by Amelia Brunskill

Hello lovelies! Today I’m hosting the tour for The Window by Amelia Brunskill, in which I’m giving you my thoughts on the book as well as an awesome giveaway! About the Book Bee’s Thoughts I’m not sure what to think anymore right now. Not sure how to write this review in a coherent way. Upon finishing The Window, my mind is all over the place. My thoughts scrambled. And while I do have some things that irked me about this book, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Honestly, more than I thought I would before picking it up. And I’m not sure where to go from here. The Window tells the story of Jess Cutter, who just lost her […]

Follow Me Back by A.V. Geiger

Bee’s Thoughts   Well I’m not entirely sure how to feel about this book, to be honest. I liked parts of it a lot… But then there are other parts that I really didn’t like that really kept me from enjoying this book more than I wanted to. With that also comes that I completely did not relate to the characters at all. Which is tragic, let’s be honest. To start off, I’d like to mention that I was not aware this was going to be a series when I started reading this book. So when I finished, that cliffhanger caught me completely off guard. It’s also very unfair because what the hell? How can you end a book like […]

ARC Review | A Good Idea: Cristina Moracho

ARC Review | A Good Idea: Cristina Moracho

TRIGGER WARNING: DRUG ABUSE/DRUG USE A Good Idea was a decent book. I enjoyed it from beginning to end but it didn’t blow me away. The beginning was, which is odd for me, better than the end. I got into it really quick and wasn’t wanting to put it down, but after I read for a while…I had to stop. It kind of took a weird pace for me and I was just meh about it. I’m not sure if that was actually the books doing or me just being me at this time of my reading slump, but either way, it took a toll on my enjoyment. Now, the pacing was good in the sense of all books ever (if […]

With Malice: Eileen Cook

With Malice: Eileen Cook

When I read this book awhile back I really enjoyed it, but now I’m like meh. My thoughts change on books quite a lot. I sit and actually THINK about what I read so my thoughts change. It could be for the good or for the bad, and this once is…well, not so good. I think when I first read this book it captivated me from the start. I was intrigued and to be honest, I was looking for a book better than Dangerous Girls so I was just engaged from the get go. Now, I will say, I did like this book better than Dangerous Girls because there was no hype before going into it. With DG I was so […]

Blog Tour & Giveaway | Frayed: Kara Terzis

Welcome to my stop on the Frayed blog tour! I am so happy to be a part of this tour. I won’t be sharing a review today, though. I’ll be going into something a little more serious that I hope you all will enjoy. I will be writing a letter to someone I lost. This was very therapeutic and I hope you all enjoy reading my letter. Dear Shannon Lynn,      You were taken from this world at such a young age and it breaks my heart. You should still be here with that amazing smile upon your face…brightening everyone’s day. I love and miss you dearly. Not a day goes by that I do not think of you. You were […]

On the surface, Celine Gonzalez had […]

Thicker Than Water: Brigid Kemmerer

On his own Thomas Bellweather hasn’t been in town long. Just long enough for his newlywed mother to be murdered, and for his new stepdad’s cop colleagues to decide Thomas is the primary suspect. Not that there’s any evidence. But before Thomas got to Garretts Mill there had just been one other murder in twenty years. The only person who believes him is Charlotte Rooker, little sister to three cops and, with her soft hands and sweet curves, straight-up dangerous to Thomas. Her best friend was the other murder vic. And she’d like a couple answers. Answers that could get them both killed, and reveal a truth Thomas would die to keep hidden… Thicker Than Water was just okay, it didn’t […]

The Fixer // Had A Lot of WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING Moments

The Fixer // Had A Lot of WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING Moments

Review The best mysteries are the ones that have you suspecting almost EVERYONE, or the ones that have you saying to yourself “what the hell is happening” or “what just happened?!”.  If you can find a book that gives you both of these things while reading it AND you end up being wrong about ‘who done it’, then congratulations, you’ve just read an amazing book. I went through all of this and more while reading The Fixer.   The story and the characters were extremely interesting, combine that with the writing, and I was engaged from very early on in the book.  But, once everything starts going down, I was HOOKED.  Like I mentioned above, I was suspecting people left and right, and […]

Blog Tour: The Weight of Guilt by John Ripslinger

Erica’s Review   I am always up for a new mystery novel. I haven’t read many, but the few I have read I’ve enjoyed. I love trying to figure out what happens in the end. It’s hard to do that with contemporaries so it’s nice to have time to think in a mystery. I secretly want to be a part of Criminal Minds…who wouldn’t? Reason 1 & 2.     Okay, enough Erica…I love being a detective and try to figure out the ending before it happens. I always get frustrated when I can’t, but I think a book is 10x better when I can’t figure it out. You wanna know something? This something had me stumped. I never knew […]
