Blog Tour + Review | Hope Nation, edited by Rose Brock

Hello everyone! Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Hope Nation. Read on to hear my full thoughts on this essay collection! 2018 seems to be the year of YA anthologies, and I’ve been particularly looking forward to Hope Nation. This collection is comprised of essays by some of the most well-known voices in YA lit about moments that gave them hope, what hope means to them, and how to pass hope on to the next generation of readers and humans. It’s a varied mix of essays: some are five pages; some are twenty-five. Some are about specific moments; some are about abstract ideas. Many of them address identity and life as a marginalized person in some way. […]

Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (SPECIAL EDITION HARDCOVER) ~ A Re-read Review

Read my original review of this wonderful book over here! Re-read review I don’t know how many times I’ve said it already, but I’ll keep saying it forever and ever until I one day die, and even then I’ll come back as a ghost to haunt you all just to say at least one more time that I love this book to bits. It remains my all time favorite book no matter how many times I read it. I love it even more every single time I read it. I just can’t get enough of this world, these characters, this story. It’s all just so magical and beautiful and wonderful. Here are a few of the things that stood out […]

Blog Tour: HUNTING PRINCE DRACULA by Kerri Maniscalco | Review, Favorite Quotes + Giveaway!

Hi, everyone! Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Hunting Prince Dracula. I am so excited to briefly share my thoughts about the book, as well as share some of my favorite quotes! Stick around til the end of this post for an awesome giveaway of both Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula! my thoughts I’ll keep this brief, because I don’t want to give spoilers for either of the books in this series. That being said, I adored this sequel even more than I enjoyed Stalking Jack the Ripper! The Romanian, creepy castle setting was so atmospheric, and I love how it played on some of the tropes often found in Gothic novels written during […]

Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit by Jaye Robin Brown

Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit by Jaye Robin Brown

my thoughts Of all of the amazing LGBTQIA+ books coming out this fall, Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit was the one I was most looking forward to reading– so much so that my friend Megan and decided to host a readalong for it this month (it lasts through the end of September if you guys are interested in participating!). And, I must say, this book did not disappoint. Georgia Peaches explores some interesting questions– how can you grow and thrive in a new place without the option to be completely yourself? Are faith and progressivism mutually exclusive? How much of your own happiness are you willing to– or is it healthy to– sacrifice for the people you love? Though the premise is […]

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon | Beware: Spoilers

I normally don’t write a spoiler review, and by normally, I mean EVER.  But, there’s no way for me to express my thoughts on this book without doing so.  So, just in case the title of this post wasn’t clear enough for you. BEWARE: SPOILERS AHEAD.  THEY WILL NOT BE MARKED, CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK. There, now that we got that out of the way, let’s get down to talking about this book. I’m going to do this a little different than my normal reviews to make it easier on myself because I’m so torn on this book.  On one hand I really liked it, and on the other, there were so many inconsistencies that I just can’t seem […]

Illuminae | Was Freaking Awesome and Gave Me ALL THE FEELS

Illuminae | Was Freaking Awesome and Gave Me ALL THE FEELS

Where the hell do I even begin? Seriously, where do I even begin to say how flipping awesome this book was?  Nothing I can say will be able to convey my love for Illuminae, and nothing I can say will be able to convey just how awesome this book is and why everyone should read it.  But, I’m going to try. Awesome formatting The first thing I noticed when I opened this book was the formatting, it’s kind of hard not to.  It’s told in such a unique way that I’ve rarely ever come across.  In fact, I can only think of one book that even compares to the format.  Anyway, I loved the way this story was told.  I […]

Can this series get any better? // Crown of Midnight

Can this series get any better? // Crown of Midnight

I seriously cannot get enough of this series. So, Crown of Midnight blew me away and I went through this book so quickly. Sarah J. Maas just does something that totally puts you under a spell to where nothing else in the world matters except this book…or the whole series I should say. I got this book from the library and it was so upsetting. I am not one to tab books, but Throne of Glass I was a tabbing fanatic and it sucked cause I had to pull them out when I returned it. So, Crown of Midnight I left alone…but there was so much that I wanted to quote. This book just has so much that sticks out. […]

The Dead House | Was Intensely Creepy

The Dead House | Was Intensely Creepy

“They think I don’t exist . . . they think I’m like a disease. I’m infecting Carly.”   I seriously don’t even know where to start.  As I’m sure you all know by now, thrillers are my go to genre and I’m a huge fan of anything horror, so I knew The Dead House was a book that I was going to love.  And I was right. Unique Formatting This is the first book that I’ve ever read that was told in journal entries, video clips, post it’s, and various other ways.  Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I opened this book and saw the formatting, but in the end, I loved it.  Not only that, I feel […]

Throne of Glass…What took me so dang long??

Throne of Glass…What took me so dang long??

Seriously, why didn’t I read this book sooner? Well, I know why, but c’mon Erica, broaden your horizons. I’m such a contemporary girl that I put this off because fantasy novels scare me. Holy crap, it’s becoming a favorite genre of mine. I now know why everyone loves it so much. Okay, now to the main focus…Throne of Glass. This book was absolute perfection. So what did I love so much about this book? EVERYTHING. The characters, the story-line, the bits and pieces of romance, the fighting. Gosh, just beautiful. Okay, so let’s start off with talking about the characters. Celaena is just a bad-ass character who I would love to be. Okay, not really because her life is hell. […]

When | Was Exactly What I Needed

When | Was Exactly What I Needed

After reading a bunch of review books in a row, I needed a break.  I was to the point of not wanting to read because I felt like I HAD to.  That’s not a good feeling.  I talked to Erica about it and then I decided to pick a book off of my personal TBR shelf.  One that I didn’t HAVE to read.  I decided on When since thrillers are my go-to genre that can usually pull me out of a slump and that’s exactly what When done.  I flew through this book in one day. An Extremely Interesting Plot I have never really given any thought on whether or not I would want to know when I would die.  Before […]
