From the author of Maybe in Another Life—named a People Magazine pick and a "Best Book of the Summer" by Glamour and USA Today—comes a breathtaking new love story about a woman unexpectedly forced to choose between the husband she has long thought dead and the fiancé who has finally brought her back to life.

In her twenties, Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. They build a life for themselves, far away from the expectations of their parents and the people of their hometown in Massachusetts. They travel the world together, living life to the fullest and seizing every opportunity for adventure.

On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is on a helicopter over the Pacific when it goes missing. Just like that, Jesse is gone forever.

Emma quits her job and moves home in an effort to put her life back together. Years later, now in her thirties, Emma runs into an old friend, Sam, and finds herself falling in love again. When Emma and Sam get engaged, it feels like Emma’s second chance at happiness.

That is, until Jesse is found. He’s alive, and he’s been trying all these years to come home to her. With a husband and a fiancé, Emma has to now figure out who she is and what she wants, while trying to protect the ones she loves.

Who is her one true love? What does it mean to love truly?

Emma knows she has to listen to her heart. She’s just not sure what it’s saying.

This book seriously gave me ALL THE FEELS and ALL THE EMOTIONS and I just finished it and I just don’t even know what to say.  I just can’t even put into words exactly what this book made me go through and how much I loved it.  I’m so happy that I listened to everyone when they said what a wonderful book One True Loves is.  This is one book that truly deserves all the hype.

Emma is a character that I really connected with, maybe that’s because I have a husband named Jesse just like her haha.  I kid, I kid.  Seriously though, I felt a connection with her from the start and I was rooting for her happiness from the very beginning.

The plot for this book was so unique and so interesting.  I seriously had no idea how things would play out and for the longest time, I had no idea how I wanted them to play out.  I would think that I wanted Emma to end up with one person, and then two seconds later, I’d change my mind.  But, later on in the book, there was a certain scene and from then on, I knew who I wanted Emma to choose.  I feel like it was the right choice for her.

I’m not going to go into specifics about how I felt about Jesse and Sam because that may give away my choice.

One True Loves is not my typical read, but oh my gosh, I’m so freaking glad that I decided to give it a try.  I fell completely head over heals for this book and these characters.  Taylor Jenkins Reid is a new to me author, but after this, I’m adding her to my auto-buy list.

  1. Yay! I’m so happy your first TJR was a hit, Christy. This is actually my least favorite by her, but I still loved the heck out of it. I think my favorite is After I Do. I can’t wait for you to pick those up.
    Wonderful review! 🙂

  2. GAH, I *need* to read this book. Like, when Friday (payday) rolls around, I am just buying this because it sounds SO good. Though I AM salty that there are TWO amazing sounding guys in her life when a lot of us cannot find one- like, share, please 😉

  3. AHHHH!!! I knew you would love this one!! I just KNEW it!!! Wasn’t it so stunning?! I just can’t get over TJR. She’s one of my very favorite authors. SO MUCH LOVE!!!! 🙂

  4. OMG, I loved this book! If you loved this then you have to read After I Do. That book left me a freaking emotional mess. I love and hate her books for that same reason.
