Hello my fellow bookworms! My friend Lauren from Bookmark Lit and I wanted to come together to create a book tag. We know how much bloggers love binge-watching shows AND reading books, so we combined the two! We’ve selected a TV show to match each prompt and we invite you to change the shows to ones that fit YOU, if you’d like. Then, just choose the best book or series to match it. Also, if some prompts are just about a specific character you can choose which character you want from a book and TV show.
GENERAL RULES FOR THE TAG:
- Choose a book or book series that best matches the prompt provided
- Feel free to change the TV show if you’d like it to reflect YOUR preferences!
- A blank set of the prompts is located at the very bottom in the scroll box
- Feel free to use our header graphic with the usual credits
- Link back to us and tag some friends to join in!
Gossip Girl » Unlikeable character(s)
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh | I chose the Wrath and the Dawn for this category because I feel like Khalid is a character I should hate, but I really love his character. Gossip Girl has so many characters that I just absolutely love, but hate at the same time. Basically every single character.
Friends » Your ship sank or didn’t happen
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas | I know this series isn’t over yet, but I definitely think my ship will sink. I mean it kind of has, but I still have some slight hope. My ship is View Spoiler »Celaena & Dorian « Hide Spoiler. Um, I’ll get so much hate for this but I hate Monica and Chandler. I don’t know why, but I do. I’ll have Chandler for myself, thanks. I always shipped him and Rachel, but know that’s a little eh. So I ship him & I!
New Girl » Best cast of characters/friendships
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff | I freakin’ love Kady & Ezra so much. The both of them add so much character to this book. Plus, the AI is just fantastic. These three bring this book to another dimension and I love it so much. I just started watching New Girl and freaking love the whole cast. They’re the best.
Fuller House » Hate that you love or guilty pleasure
Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James | I think you all would know why this is a guilty pleasure. I never knew how many people hated this book until I came into the book community. I still really enjoyed these books and hey, if I go back and re-read I may see everything I missed before, but oh well…I’m sticking with them. Fuller House is definitely a guilty pleasure. It wasn’t nearly as good as Full House, but I still loved it.
Supernatural » Long series you loved
Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige | This series isn’t over yet, but I thought it was ending this year. I just found out there will be another book in this series and that makes me excited, but upset because I was preparing myself for the end. I know this isn’t a very long series, just four books (with the one next year) but the wait made it seem longer than it actually is. Supernatural, of course. I think it won’t ever end.
Grey’s Anatomy » All the feels
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven | This. Book. Oh my goodness, it gives you all the feels and more. If you haven’t picked up this book I definitely recommend that you do. It made my emotions go all over the place. Such an amazing read! Grey’s is…I think self-explanatory. Every season just breaks you in so many different ways.
How I Met Your Mother » Bad ending
Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas | Okay, I know I’m the black sheep with this one, but Dangerous Girls just left me feeling eh. I didn’t necessarily see the ending coming or anything coming in the book for that matter, but it didn’t shock me as it did others. The ending was just lackluster to me. Also, How I Met Your Mother’s ending was damn awful. I could write a whole different post about this and hell maybe I will. There is just too much to write about that ending.
Lost » Favorite paranormal/fantasy
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas | I actually haven’t finished this book yet, but holy crap. I don’t know why I put this book off for so long. Sarah J. Maas is just absolutely wonderful. She has you intrigued from beginning to end and makes you feel all the feels. Lost is a show I haven’t finished. I have started it twice and have watched three seasons, but never continue. Doesn’t mean I don’t love it, I just get distracted.
Freaks & Geeks » Left you wanting more
Ask Me How I Got Here by Christine Heppermann | This book was such a huge disappointment for me. I wanted so much more out of it and was just so upset by the whole thing. I was really expecting to fall for this one, but it wasn’t the one for me.
The OC » Series that should have ended earlier
Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher | These three tiny books were good, I really enjoyed them, but I feel like they could have ended earlier (as in could have been just one damn book). I think one book would have been better and it could have had a lot more impact and depth. The OC just wasn’t the same after season 3 and that upsets me.
Girl Meets World » Should have had a spin-off
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han | I love this duology so much. I heard that there will be a third book and boy oh boy that makes me excited, but that’s not what I want out of this series. Well, I do, but not the spin-off kind. I think the spin-off should be focused on Lara Jean’s sister Kitty.
That 70’s Show » Set in a different time period
Blood, Ink & Fire by Ashley Mansour | This book is set in a time where books aren’t even a thing. It’s crazy and I hope the world never comes to this, but the way Ashley writes this book makes it seem like it could happen and scares the shit out of me.
Orange is the New Black » Couldn’t stop reading
Until You’re Mine by Samantha Hayes | Holy crap. This book was so intriguing and had me at the edge of my seat the entire time. I could not put it down and I absolutely loved every inch of it. Twist and turns galore. The fact that a whole season comes onto Netflix at one time it is so hard not to binge the crap out of OITNB.
Fixer Upper » Made you laugh out loud
The Revenge Playbook by Rachael Allen | A book all about female empowerment is quite badass. These lovely cast of ladies is fantastic and they had me laughing throughout this whole book. I know Fixer Upper is a weird show to choose, but Chip & Jo are just adorable and make me laugh every single episode.
One Tree Hill » Favorite book boyfriend
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell | Park is such a wonderful, sweet, fantastic guy and I adore him so much. I was going to go with Peeta from THG, but I thought I would switch things up. One Tree Hill has so many guys I can swoon over. I love them all so much.
Breaking Bad » Favorite villain
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins | President Snow. I just did a post about this and I don’t want to go on about this when you guys can just head over there and see my admiration for this guy! I haven’t watched Breaking Bad, but I couldn’t think of another TV villain for some reason. Though, I do know the MC in BB is pretty intense.
The Middle » Best family or parents
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling | The Weasley’s. That family is just so utterly amazing. I mean I could be a long lost cousin twice removed because of my ginger-ness, so that would be awesome. They are so wonderful with each other and anyone would be lucky to have Molly as a mom. The Middle is amazing and the family aspect is spot on. I love the Heck’s so much and would love to be a part of that family.
We tag all of you! Have fun with this. We know you all love books & adding Netflix into the mix just makes this 10x better! Make sure to tag back to our post so we can check out what you guys post! Below I will include the original prompts because if you look at Lauren’s or mine you might see a little different bit of different ideas.
