Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap up post. The three of us will be alternating weeks. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post.
Oh man, you guys, the past two weeks have been absolutely insane! My choir is in the middle of a two-week run of Carmina Burana performances with the Atlanta Ballet. It’s been so much fun– getting to participate in professional productions like this one while still a student is something I’ll remember forever, and definitely an example of the unique opportunities that studying music at an urban university affords– but wow, am I tired. It doesn’t help that I’ve had stressful auditions and an ungodly amount of homework in my other classes to worry about, too. My voice is holding up just fine (thanks, voice teacher! I never would have been able to make it through this crazy amount of singing a few years ago), but my body… not so much. Here’s hoping I’ll get some rest next week after Carmina is done!
Thanks to my new #otspsecretsister, who already discovered that a good fantasy book is the way to my heart! <3
All through NetGalley. A second book from my favorite 2016 debut author, a book about a track star, a book about a trans superhero, a YA book that discusses a character’s life after she gets an abortion, and an Austen retelling? Yeah, you could say I’m pretty psyched for all of these.
Books Read/Currently Reading
I’m struggling a bit with this one, because I forgot so many of the main plot points from Truthwitch (which I read over a year ago), and I cannot, for all my trying, find a recap or plot summary of it anywhere online. I’m starting to get back into the swing of this series, though! I still adore the world and the characters.
Currently Obsessing Over
ColourPop highlighter in Hippo // I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this on the blog before, but I love makeup. I worked in a cosmetic studio all through high school, and I still wear makeup almost every day. ColourPop is one of my favorite beauty brands in general, because they’re affordable, cruelty-free, and make both unique and wearable products. I’ve been obsessed with this particular highlighter recently– it’s a beautiful lavender that pairs really well with cool-toned eyes and lips!
‘The Daily’ Podcast by the New York Times // I’ve loved starting my morning off with this podcast lately! Super quick (~20 min) daily episodes covering all the major news you need to know that day.
What books did you get this week? Have you read any of the ones I mentioned? What are you currently obsessing over?
