Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap up post. The three of us will be alternating weeks. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post.
This was the first week back from spring break, so it was basically just lots of adjusting to being back in class. We also had a choir concert this week, which went super well! Last Sunday, my favorite feminist bookstore hosted an event/book signing with Angie Thomas, moderated by Becky Albertalli, which was so lovely. There was some wonderful discussion, and I really enjoyed chatting with both the authors! Next week, I’m planning on going to Roshani Chokshi’s launch event for A CROWN OF WISHES, so stayed tuned for updates on that! The weather here in Atlanta has been beautiful lately, so my friends and I have been spending lots of time outside (well, if you consider our favorite restaurant patios to be “outside” 😉 ).
I’m so excited to *finally* have my hands on a copy of THUG! I also stopped by my favorite local indie this week, and I couldn’t resist picking up Book 2 in the March graphic novel trilogy– John Lewis is my Congressman, an Atlanta hero, and an all-around wonderful person, and I can’t wait to finish this series.
My friend Maggie got me this book for my birthday! I’ve never read any Murakami, but I’ve wanted to for ages, and I trust Maggie’s taste in books.
One of my best friends has been rereading her favorite childhood series, and she kindly brought me the first book in the trilogy to borrow. I can always go for more middle grade!
None this week! I’m trying to not request any ARCs or review copies until I catch up on my Netgalley e-ARCS (see post from earlier this week about my TBR for the A Very Arc-ish Readathon, happening next month!).
Books Read/Currently Reading
Oh my gosh, you guys. THUG was one of the most honest, well-rounded stories I’ve read in ages. It surpassed every single one of my expectations. I’ll have my review of Timekeeper up later this week, but for now just know that I adored it. <3
Ahh, I’ve heard so many great things about this one lately! I can’t wait to dive deeper into this story.
Currently Obsessing Over
Jkissa on YouTube // I adore Jkissa’s videos so much! I’ve been watching her for a several months now, but she’s recently become one of my few auto-watch YouTubers. Not only is she a genius makeup artist, but she’s also fantastic at explaining her technique in her videos. It sounds cheesy, but her videos inspire me to be more bold and use more “out-there” colors and techniques in my makeup routine. I also appreciate her willingness to take time to get things exactly the way she wants them. Not to mention, she’s such a cinnamon roll of a human. Watching her videos always sparks my creativity! Would highly recommend.
What books did you get this week, and what are you currently obsessing over?
