Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap up post. The three of us will be alternating weeks. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post.
*taps microphone* Is this thing on? Long time no talk, guys! I’ve been super busy over the past couple weeks. Last week, I was in Minneapolis for five days at the national conference of the American Choral Directors Association– ACDA is always my favorite week of every year, and this year was SO EPIC. I met some famous composers and conductors, went to some fascinating interest sessions, and heard countless fantastic choirs. I also got to hang out in a new city with my friends for a week, plus make new friends! It was so, so fun. I got home Sunday, and then Monday was my 21st birthday… which means I am of legal drinking age now! Finally. Also, this week is my spring break. My parents, conveniently enough, live on a beach, so I’ve just been hanging out at home with them, which has been really fun. Since I’ve been home, I’ve gone out to some awesome new restaurants, gone shopping for my recital dress (spoiler: it’s gorgeous), drank way too much coffee, and even discovered an awesome used bookstore!
Also, a bit of blog news! You might have noticed that the blog has been a little quiet this week. Both Christy and Erica, my lovely co-bloggers, are taking a bit of a break from Novel Ink right now… which means you’ll be seeing a lot of me in the coming weeks! I’m going to try my best to post as regularly as possible, but I am a full-time college student with two part-time jobs and a social life, so forgive me if I miss a day here or there. And let me know if there are any specific posts you’d like to see from me!
The Queen of the Night was an ebook deal, and I just couldn’t resist… I mean, come on, books + opera?! I had to. And I had to finally get my hands on The Last of August!
I was pleasantly surprised at the selection of used books in this little antique store on the island! Pretty pleased with all of these finds. I plan on keeping them at my parents’ house so I can start a mini library of books to read when I’m visiting home.
The first is from the author; the other two are from Netgalley! Super excited for all of these.
Books Read/Currently Reading
My reading game has not been so strong lately. I think Upside left me in a bit of a slump because it was just THAT amazing. I’ll write a full review once I can type rational thoughts instead of just screaming at you guys to preorder/buy the book (although you should probably also go ahead and do that).
Reading The Last of August; listening to the audiobook of Timekeeper; slowly making my way through Queen.
Currently Obsessing Over
Laura Marling, Semper Femina // Laura Marling released a new album last week, and therefore all is right in my world. I consider her one of the most brilliant songwriters of our time, so I pretty much love everything she touches, but Semper Feminina really is special. It’s full of reflections on and questions about womanhood and friendship.
Fixer Upper // I’m a slut for HGTV in general, but since I’ve been home over this break, I’ve been watching Fixer Upper nonstop. It’s just so easy to get sucked into the vortex. While Chip and Joanna are not people I would want to be friends with, I do admire their talents and eye for design.
What new books did you get this week? Did you do anything fun? Let’s chat in the comments!
