I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I absolutely loved this book! Everything about it was absolutely wonderful. From the world-building to the incredible characters, Belleza keeps you insanely engaged. From the moment I got this book in the mail I was excited, intrigued and just ready to dive in. Once I opened the book and finally submerged myself into this new fantasy world I was ready to go. I have been in an awful slump and while this book didn’t necessarily get me out of it…it helped. Which, I’m forever grateful for.

Back to talking about the absolutely amazing world-building. The fantasy genre was never my favorite, but over the past year I have grown to adore it. Reading this book gave me the reassurance that fantasy books kick ass. You get to travel into a whole new world. You get to throw all the stuff from reality away for some time and get to live another life. The world-building in Empress of a Thousand Skies was done so beautifully because I felt like I was a part of the story the whole way through.

Onto the spectacular characters…I haven’t been connecting with characters lately and I feel like that is a reason I’m in this slump, but the characters in this book had me jumping for joy. I connected with them on an emotional level and that made me so happy. They, to me, are very relatable and that wins me over so quickly. Not only were the characters real and helped me become even more intrigued with the story, but we have some diverse characters which I was so excited to see. I just loved them. They were great and Belleza did a fantastic job with them.

The only down side to this book was the plot was a tiny bit predictable. If it weren’t for that this book would have gotten a full five stars from me. The predictability didn’t take away from my experience all too much, but if there was a bit more surprise in there I think the book would have been just divine. Other than that, no complaints from this girl. You guys really need to pick up this fantastic book…I hope you love it as much as I do 🙂
