Welcome to my stop on the Auto Focus blog tour! I am so happy to be a part of this tour. I won’t be sharing a review today, though. I’ll be doing a collage of what I believe family to be. I hope that you guys will agree with me with some of these things, or all, that would be nice. Stay tuned till the end of the post for a giveaway!
This is what my family means to me and I hope some of these words I used above are words you associate with your family as well. Before I get into what these words mean and why I use them to describe my family I want to give details as to why I chose the photos I did. The top left is a photo of my sister and I when we were little and then one from two years ago. Family is…family. My sister is one of my biggest supporters. The photo in the top right is my best friend Sarah. Family is…friendship. She has always been there for me and even though we aren’t blood we are family. The photo in the bottom left is my dog who gives me love and just makes me so happy! Family is…pets. Finally, the bottom right…my sister, best friend (Abbey) and myself. Family is.. craziness. We three are crazy and when we are together it is always a good time. I don’t know where I would be without them. Family isn’t just your relatives. This community is my family, my dog is my family, my friends are my family…I have a huge family and I am grateful for every one of them.
Happiness. They bring me so much joy. They always make me smile when I’m down.
Friendship. My sister and mom are two of my friends and I’m so happy that they aren’t just my mom and sister. They are much more than that. I also have best friends who are a part of my family and are welcomed in with open arms.
Love. My family shows me so much love and I feel so lucky to have them.
Craziness. What is a family without some craziness? We are a fun-filled family who always has some fun. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Support. They are my biggest support system and my shoulder to cry on if I need them.
What does family mean to you?
About the Book
It’s always been a loaded word for Maude. And when she is given a senior photography assignment—to create a portfolio that shows the meaning of family—she doesn’t quite know where to begin. But she knows one thing: without the story of her birth mother, who died when Maude was born, her project will be incomplete.
So Maude decides to visit her best friend, Treena, at college in Tallahassee, Florida, where Maude’s birth mother once lived. But when Maude arrives, she quickly discovers that Treena has changed. With a new boyfriend and a packed social calendar, Treena doesn’t seem to have time for Maude—or helping Maude in her search.
Enter Bennett, a cute guy who lives in Treena’s dorm. He understands Maude’s need to find her mother. And as Bennett helps Maude in her search, she starts to find that her mother’s past doesn’t have to define her own future.
Lauren Gibaldi has crafted a beautiful and timely coming-of-age story that poses the question: Is who we are determined at birth, or can we change as we grow?
