I have forgone explaining each of these choices because, well, I just want to read them? Also, I’ve featured most of these in a Waiting on Wednesday post already, haha. madalyn’s top […]

I had a lot of fun putting this list together! Without further ado, let’s get into the guys, gals, and nonbinary pals who stole my heart in 2017. (Also, I’M NOT TRYING TO BE CREEPY. When it comes to any YA protagonists on this list, I would obvs only […]

YA contemporary is one of my favorite genres, and it’s probably the genre I read the most of this year. Now, onto my list! […]

The 2017 End-Of-Year Book Survey!

Posted December 23, 2017 by Madalyn / 10 Comments

Today, I’ll be filling out the 2017 End of Year Book Survey, which was created by Jamie @ The Perpetual Page Turner. Even though I’m participating in the Top 10 of 2017 event next week, this survey gives a good overview of my reading for the year, and it addresses things that won’t be covered in those posts. I always enjoy doing this survey– it’s just a nice way to reflect on and wrap up my reading. Without further ado, let’s jump into the stats and questions! Number of books you read: 165 (as of December 19th) Number of re-reads: 1 (WHO AM I??? I love rereading; this makes me sad.) Genre you read the most from: YA Contemporary 1. Best Book You Read […]

ARC Review: Turn It Up! by Jen Calonita

ARC Review: Turn It Up! by Jen Calonita

As someone who loves books involving music and a capella in particular, I was so looking forward to Turn It Up! It sounded like such a fun premise, and as soon as I read the synopsis, it jumped to a spot on my list of most-anticipated 2018 releases. Unfortunately, this book fell flat (pun definitely intended) of all my expectations. First off, I feel that this book fits squarely into the middle grade age range, as opposed to Young Adult (which is what it is being marketed as). The voices of the characters read incredibly young… which makes sense, seeing as they’re in eighth grade, which I think is middle grade. I don’t take issue with middle grade as a […]

Waiting on Wednesday: Finding Yvonne by Brandy Colbert

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s a feature where we show off one of our most anticipated upcoming book releases. Where we tend to add more books to your never-ending TBR. madalyn’s waiting on… why i’m waiting I read my first Brandy Colbert book earlier this year and really enjoyed her writing. This story features a character trying to get into a conservatory for college (college auditions were pretty much my life my senior year of high school, so I have a feeling I’ll relate hardcore). Although this book is going to tackle some tough topics, I think more YA books that deal with teen pregnancy are necessary, because it’s unfortunately something lots of real teens […]

Non-Bookish: Holiday Q&A!

Posted December 18, 2017 by Madalyn / 7 Comments

Hello, everyone! It’s officially one week until Christmas, so today I’m here with another fun, non-bookish Q&A– this time with holiday-themed questions! This Q&A is hosted by The Blended Blog, but I originally saw it over on Grace’s blog. let’s get festive! Real or fake tree? Real, always. Favorite Christmas cookie? My stepdad and I always bake and decorate almond sugar cookies in fun Christmas-y shapes for the holidays! I love anything almond-flavored. Home on Christmas morning or travel? Home. I mean, I have to travel to get home (my parents’ house), but I like to be there on Christmas morning for sure. Clear or colored lights? Colored! They feel so much cozier to me. Send Christmas cards? Yep! I […]
