Ten Low-Rated Books That I Loved!

Posted November 27, 2017 by Madalyn / 16 Comments

Hi, guys! I recently watched BooksAndLala‘s video titled Unpopular Books I Love, and I thought it would make for an interesting blog post! I followed Kayla’s method used in the video for this post: I went to my Goodreads “read” shelf, sorted it by average rating from lowest to highest, and chose the first ten books that popped up that received four- or five-star ratings from me. (I decided to exclude books that I read and rated prior to 2013, which was my junior year of high school, because that’s the point at which I feel like I started to come into my current reading taste.) All of these books have an average Goodreads rating of lower than 3.7. I […]

Posted November 23, 2017 by Madalyn / 4 Comments

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow American readers! Today, I thought I’d answer this adorable Thanksgiving-themed Q&A. This Q&A is hosted by The Blended Blog, but I originally saw it over on Grace’s blog. questions A new friend: For this, I have to go with a newer coworker of mine, Tia! She and I hit it off immediately, and ever since she started working at the tea shop with me, I’ve had the best time working with her. She’s a great employee and an awesome person, and I am so thankful for all the wonderful work conversations and adventures we’ve had together! Something shiny: Definitely my Stila Magnificent Metals liquid eyeshadow in Smoky Storm. I LOVE wearing a pop of glitter on the […]

Waiting on Wednesday: Save the Date by Morgan Matson

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s a feature where we show off one of our most anticipated reads of the year. Where we tend to add more books to your never-ending TBR. madalyn’s waiting on… why i’m waiting New Morgan Matson. Need I say more? Matson is one of my favorite YA contemporary authors, and she’s definitely on my auto-buy list. (I fully acknowledge that her books are… very white. And very straight. And very non-diverse in general. But she’s my slightly problematic fave, okay?) This premise sounds so cute, too! So many of my friends have gotten married or engaged lately that I’m craving cute wedding books, haha. What book are you waiting on this […]

ARC Review: Down by Contact by Santino Hassell

ARC Review: Down by Contact by Santino Hassell

Guys, I think I may have found a new go-to romance series. Who would have thought that a series of sports romances about football players could have sucked my demiromantic, non-athletic self in like this??? They totally have, though. Down by Contact is the second in a series of companion novels (the first being Illegal Contact, which I also loved) that follow queer professional football players as they find love in often unexpected places. I was super excited for this book, because it follows a character I adored in the first book. Simeon Boudreaux is too precious for this world, but, like, he’s also a badass. At the start of the book, he has just come out as gay in […]

Waiting on Wednesday | Toil & Trouble: 16 Tales of Women & Witchcraft

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s a feature where we show off one of our most anticipated reads of the year. Where we tend to add more books to your never-ending TBR. madalyn’s waiting on… why i’m waiting Another week, another 2018 YA anthology I would die to get my hands on. This one is all about WITCHES! FEMINIST witches, to be even more specific! I love reading stories about witches and wish YA featured more of them, so this anthology truly sounds right up my alley. (Also, how amazing does the blurb make this sound?!?! And it mentions Gemma Doyle, AKA MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE YA PROTAGONIST.) It’s edited by two of my faves (Tess Sharpe […]

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Want My Future Children to Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. K. Rowling // I mean, I might as well get the obvious choices out of the way first. I can’t wait to read Harry Potter books with my future kids and to watch them experience the magic that has meant so much to me throughout my life.
