Month: September 2017
Hey there! Okay people, I’m in need of your help. It’s quite simple really. I can’t decide what book to read next. I’ve made this nifty little poll to let you decide for me! Isn’t that smart of me? I know. I should reward myself, honestly. Such a brilliant plan. Now, if you have any faves from the last few month that you think I HAVE to read, please give me suggestions in the comments! Thank you!
Thank you so much to Candlewick Press for kindly sending an ARC of Echo After Echo my way! Holy heck, you guys. I LOVED this book. The premise had me at the words “New York stage” and the promise of an f/f relationship, but I was honestly blindsided by how much I enjoyed reading Echo After Echo. This story ticks all the boxes for me: a Broadway theatre setting, a swoonworthy f/f romance, an intriguing mystery, and absolutely stunning prose. The book follows our protagonist, Zara, after she gets her dream role in a Greek tragedy she’s adored and had memorized since childhood. She’s trying to navigate moving to a new city on her own, making her Broadway debut, a creepy […]
Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s a feature where we show off one of our most anticipated reads of the year. Where we tend to add more books to your never-ending TBR. Bee’s waiting on… why i’m waiting This book just sounds so amazingly wonderful and also 10/10 it will crush my heart and feels and I will love it for that. Also, that cover is pretty though. Look at the colors! Are you excited for The Beauty That Remains? What book are you waiting on this week?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is “ten books that feature characters ‘x’,” so I decided, in honor of Bi Visibility Month (which is this month!), to go with ten books that feature main characters who identify as bisexual. I did some similar posts as part of the Pride Month feature we did back in June, but I’ve never done a list of specifically bisexual main characters. And, since that’s how I personally identify, I thought it was much-needed. Without further ado, let’s get into the list! madalyn’s top ten * denotes #ownvoices representation of bisexuality Far From You by Tess Sharpe* // This is one of the first […]
Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap-up post. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post. Life Updates Happy weekend, friends! This has been an odd week on my end. I’ve been dealing with lots of insomnia this week, and lack of sleep is not a good look for me. For me, sleep issues usually signal an upcoming downturn in my mental health. I kind of feel like I’m at the beginning of a depressive episode, but hopefully I can take this weekend to reset and do some self care so that I get back to myself again. Onto happier things from this week: my university hosted our annual high school choral day, […]
What To Do When You’ve Lost Your Bookish Mojo? (Run? No, absolutely not, sir. You may cry.) That’s a mighty big question, isn’t it? I think it is, at least. Also a tough one to answer. I’m not even sure if I have an answer myself even though that’s what you might think why I’m making this post. Hahahaha oh poor you. I don’t know anything about anything. But since I’ve been sitting in the biggest slumps there will ever slump, I will share with you what I did. What did my slump involve? I had no energy nor did I care to do anything bookish. That included blogging, reading, writing,… anything. I just didn’t care. Now I do and […]
Hi, everyone! Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Hunting Prince Dracula. I am so excited to briefly share my thoughts about the book, as well as share some of my favorite quotes! Stick around til the end of this post for an awesome giveaway of both Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula! my thoughts I’ll keep this brief, because I don’t want to give spoilers for either of the books in this series. That being said, I adored this sequel even more than I enjoyed Stalking Jack the Ripper! The Romanian, creepy castle setting was so atmospheric, and I love how it played on some of the tropes often found in Gothic novels written during […]

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is the top ten books on our fall TBR. Fall and winter are my favorite seasons, and as a mood reader, my reading tastes during these seasons tend to lean towards more introspective books, as well as books with intricate worlds and atmospheric settings. I’ve divided my list into a couple different categories. Also, as per usual, my list is probably going to include more than ten books, because that’s just who I am as a person. madalyn’s fall tbr ARCs All three of these come out in either October or November, and I’m so excited to read each of them! They all […]
