#ARCAugust 2017: TBR + Sign-Up Post

Posted July 29, 2017 by Madalyn / 6 Comments

I am excited to participate in the fifth annual #ARCAugust, hosted by the lovely people over at Read.Sleep.Repeat. I was originally planning not to participate, because I’ve been pretty on top of my review copy game lately, but then I went on a requesting spree on Netgalley because I clearly enjoy making life hard for myself.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyway, today, I’ll be sharing my TBR and goals with you all! the rules The rules for #ARCAugust are fairly straightforward: Any Advanced Reading Copy counts as part of this reading challenge (including backlist titles!). No blog necessary to participate, but you’ll need to include some form of social media as part of your sign up. Use the #ARCAugust on social media to check in throughout […]

ARC Review: The Girl with the Red Balloon by Katherine Locke

ARC Review: The Girl with the Red Balloon by Katherine Locke

This book, you guys. THIS BOOK. I didn’t know what to expect going into The Girl with the Red Balloon. Historical fiction is my favorite genre, and I’ve always been fascinated by the Berlin Wall and the division of Germany post-World War II. I went into this book expecting historical fiction set in East Berlin in the 80’s with a touch of magic, but what I got was one of the most emotionally powerful stories I have ever read. This book affected me on such a deep, unexpected level. The story follows our protagonist, Ellie, who starts out on a trip to Berlin with her high school German class. She is visiting the ruins of the Berlin Wall when she sees […]

Madalyn’s Auto-Buy Authors | July Monthly Recommendations

Posted July 25, 2017 by Madalyn / 20 Comments

Monthly Recommendations is a Goodreads group created and hosted by Kayla Rayne and Trina from Between Chapters. I used to do these videos when I was on BookTube, and I really miss them, so I’ve decided to try to do them on the blog every month from now on! July’s topic is auto-buy/auto-read authors– those authors you adore so much that you’ll read anything they publish, regardless of the synopsis. Without further ado, let’s get into my list! madalyn’s auto-buy authors     Libba Bray // Libba Bray’s books have meant so much to me at different points throughout my life. The Gemma Doyle trilogy is probably my favorite series of all time, ever, and The Diviners series is one of my […]

BookTube-A-Thon 2017 TBR (+ help me choose what to read!)

Posted July 23, 2017 by Madalyn / 15 Comments

I’m so excited to participate in the fourth annual summer BookTube-A-Thon! In case you’re not aware, the BookTube-A-Thon is a weeklong readathon, hosted by the lovely Ariel Bissett, when the entire BookTube community comes together and attempts to read as much as possible. There are reading challenges, daily video challenges, bookstagram challenges, Twitter sprints, giveaways, and tons of other fun things going on over the course of the week. This will be my fourth year participating in the BTAT, and I cannot wait (not to brag or anything, but I usually kill this readathon)! It’s truly my favorite week of the year to be part of the bookish internet community (and, no, you do not have to be a BookTuber to […]

Weekly Novel Rewind (6)

Posted July 22, 2017 by Madalyn / 12 Comments

Novel Rewind is our version of a weekly wrap-up. We will be linking up to Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post. Life Updates Hi everyone! It’s just me (Madalyn) on the rewind post this week. It’s been a long and stressful week of apartment hunting, running errands, and trying to get everything squared away with my part-time student teaching assignment for next semester. I also haven’t been sleeping very well (which is usually a sign that my mental health is about to take a turn for the worse). Needless to say, this hasn’t been a great week, but I’m hoping to get in some much-needed time for self-care this weekend. I’m excited to be participating in the BookTube-A-Thon next […]

Blog Tour, Review, + Giveaway: Lucky in Love by Kasie West

Blog Tour, Review, + Giveaway: Lucky in Love by Kasie West

Welcome to my stop on the Lucky in Love Blog Tour! I’m so excited to be part of the tour for this newest release from one of my auto-buy contemporary authors (spoiler alert: it’s just as cute as West’s previous books). Read on for my full thoughts + a giveaway! review As expected, I thoroughly enjoyed Lucky in Love, and I flew through it in less than a day. Kasie West just excels at writing adorable, swoonworthy romances. The premise of Lucky in Love immediately piqued my interest– a girl winning the lottery on her 18th birthday and having to navigate all the challenges of newfound wealth while still making her way through high school? Yes, please. It presented lots […]

Waiting on Wednesday: Finding Felicity by Stacey Kade

Waiting on Wednesday: Finding Felicity by Stacey Kade

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s a feature where we show off one of our most anticipated reads of the year. Where we tend to add more books to your never-ending TBR. madalyn’s waiting on…  why i’m waiting Honestly? I saw that this was a contemporary involving my favorite guilty pleasure 90’s TV show, Felicity, and I was sold. Plus, I love YA that follows protagonists the year after high school (whether the protagonist is in college, as in the case of this book, or just going out on their own for the first time). It’s such a huge time of change, and this book looks like it will explore the opportunity to reinvent yourself that […]

Weekly Novel Rewind (5)

Posted July 15, 2017 by Madalyn / 21 Comments

Hey, everyone! Sorry for the lack of weekly rewind posts lately– Bee and I have both been busy with life stuff the past couple weeks! BUT. We’re here now to update you on what we’ve been up to over the past week or so. Life Updates Madalyn: Not too much exciting to report on my end! I visited my parents in Florida over the weekend and the beginning of the week, which was a lot of fun, as always. I took some walks on the beach, did some shopping, and ate a lot of ice cream. I dealt with flight issues both ways, but everything ended up working out okay! My roommate and I are moving out of our current apartment at the […]
