Countdown Survey: Year Two

Posted December 31, 2015 by Erica / 16 Comments

It’s the second year for the Countdown Survey and Christy and I are so excited! We loved doing this last year and wanted to continue on with the tradition. This one will have slightly different questions from last year and that will occur year to year to change a few things up. The Countdown Survey was inspired by all the surveys and tags out there, such as The End of The Year survey by Jamie @ The Perpetual Page Turner, and The Seven Deadly Sins Tag by BookiskMalayza just to name a few. Like before, we are going to have a link up at the bottom of this post so be sure to share your link so that we […]

Being a Book Critic: Books I Love VS. Books I Don’t

Posted December 30, 2015 by Christy / 15 Comments

We all have our on style on how we review and rate books and today I want to talk a little bit about how I rate books that I read. Basically, I rate based on how a book made me feel. I’m not a very critical book rater when it comes to books that I love.  In fact, if I’m REALLY enjoying a book, I don’t  notice a lot of little things like grammatical errors, minor details not adding up, etc.  It’s amazing how much I can overlook if I’m invested in the characters and the story and most of the time, I don’t even realize that I’ve overlooked anything until I’m reading reviews after the fact and by that point […]

This week’s Top Ten is all about 2016 and the books we’re most excited for during the first half of the new year. Christy’s List Gosh, this is going to be so freaking hard to narrow down!  I’ll try my best though.           *Note: I don’t actually know what month Infini releases as it didn’t have that info on Goodreads so I don’t know if it’s the first part of the year, but OMG I need that book! What Books Are You Looking Forward To?

This Is Where It Ends | The Most Emotional and Gut-Wrenching Book Ever

This Is Where It Ends | The Most Emotional and Gut-Wrenching Book Ever

I honestly don’t even know how I’m going to write a review that will do This is Where it Ends justice. I can sit here and say ‘that was seriously the most gut-wrenching, emotional and heartbreaking book that I have EVER read.’ Which it was, but that’s not enough. A Parent’s Worst Nightmare School is a place that is supposed to be safe. We drop off our kids in the morning thinking they will be learning things vital for their future. We never think that we’ll get that call saying that our kids are in danger from a shooter in the school. That is something that happens somewhere else, to other people. At least that’s what we think. But, the […]

Posted December 27, 2015 by Christy / 14 Comments

When I (Christy), first started Novel Ink, formerly Christy’s Book Addiction, back in June 2012, I honestly never thought I’d see this blog grow as much as it has.  It has amazed me how far my little blog has come over the years and I’m so thankful to be part of this amazing book community.  I’ve always had a hard time expressing my feelings when my emotions become involved, but just know Erica and I appreciate and love every single one of our followers. I also want to thank Erica for coming on and being a part of this blog.  Without her, this blog wouldn’t have grown as much as it has this last year and I honestly appreciate everything […]

November 9 | My 2nd Fave CoHo Book

November 9 | My 2nd Fave CoHo Book

Colleen Hoover sure knows how to write a gripping and emotional rollercoaster of a book.  I don’t know how many times I’ve said that very statement, but it holds true with every book that I’ve read of hers.  Including November 9. Fallon and Ben meet on the one day that has a huge significance in Fallon’s life.  November 9th.  As the summary states, they spend an amazing day together and agree to meet up every year on the same date.  I loved this aspect of their story, and to me it seemed like it made their relationship much more special.  Although, I don’t think I would have been able to do it, I loved the fact that they could.  Their chemistry was off […]
