Reading slumps…what’s the cause?

Posted October 29, 2015 by Erica / 26 Comments

Erica’s Thoughts Reading slumps are something we all hate to go through. They don’t necessarily come along after reading a bunch of bad books. You can get into a slump after reading such a mind-blowing book and you just ‘can’t even.’ Reading slumps are caused by many things, but I think* it’s mainly because of advanced reader copies. We get so excited when we see people post pictures of ARCs (and I’m not talking about ARC envy) we get all excited and go, “Hey, I want that one, too.” We get excited for a new book that is coming out especially if it’s from a favorite author of ours or a second in a series (and so on). We want our […]

The Revolution of Ivy | Was AUH-MAZ-ZING

The Revolution of Ivy | Was AUH-MAZ-ZING

*WARNING – SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE FIRST BOOK, THE BOOK OF IVY.  If you have not read The Book of Ivy, proceed at your own risk. Remember in my review of The Book of Ivy when I said “HOLY FREAKING ALIEN BABIES, THIS BOOK IS AMAZING”?  Well, that statement holds true for The Revolution of Ivy as well. I Was Scared In all honesty, I was kind of scared going into TRoI, only because I loved the first one SO much and I wanted the sequel/ending to be just as amazing as the first.  I was also so scared that things wouldn’t end the way I wanted them to.  If you’ve read the first book then you know that things […]

Dark Heart of Magic | There Be Monsters Here

Dark Heart of Magic | There Be Monsters Here

It’s Time For the Championship Every year, the Families compete in the Tournament of the Blades and over the last two years, the Sinclair Family have lost.  This year may be different though, because this year they have Lila Merriweather. Lila is still badass As I said in my review of Cold Burn of Magic, Lila is such a badass. This is only one of the things I love about her. Aside from all of her badassery, she’s also a loyal, and caring person. She’ll always do the right thing, even when doing the right thing isn’t always easy and that’s something that’s rare to find nowadays. I cringed, even as she called out the last two words I wanted […]

Scandal (Part One) / Alison Foster

Scandal (Part One) / Alison Foster

This book had me completely hooked from the get go and I did not want to put it down. I was so intrigued and it was just so fast paced and wonderful. Scandal is obviously Part One, but it is a three part series. This book is quite short, so if you’re looking for a quick read that captivates you, pick it up. Buuuuuut, if you’re looking for a book that has ALL THE QUESTIONS answered, skip this. It packs a lot in, but the ending is quite open ended so you don’t get the fulfillment you need. You need the second part right now! When I say short, I mean short. I finished this book in like two hours. Everyone reads […]

Forget Tomorrow | Excerpt & Guest Post

Excerpt from Chapter Four of Pintip Dunn’s Forget Tomorrow   “I can’t fight Fate. But I know who can. FuMA. I’m going to let them arrest me. Lock me up, so that I can’t fulfill my memory. Even if I want to.” He stills. “But then you would be in detainment. For the rest of your life.” You’ll never see the sun again, a voice inside me whispers. Never get married and have your own family. The inside of a cell will be your home for the rest of your days. I don’t care. Tears drip onto my cheeks, and I swipe them away. This is my sister we’re talking about. My sister. “I can’t imagine ever doing what my […]

Grant Me Those Wishes…Pretty Please :)

Posted October 20, 2015 by Erica / 11 Comments

Don’t we all wish we had a Robin Williams genie pop into our life? I sure as heck know I do. A flying carpet would be awesome, too, but let’s not get off topic. We all love our books and our bookish items so today I will be letting you all know what I would use my three…or TEN wishes on! This week’s topic: 10 Wishes I’d Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me Erica’s Wishes My lovely friends and I were talking the other day and one of my top wishes would totally be…being able to read like Spencer Reid off of Criminal Minds. I mean he reads so fast and retains absolutely everything. My TBR would be so […]
