Betrayed by Brie Paisley

ERICA’S REVIEW I always look at everyone’s reviews on Goodreads to see what they thought of the book. Usually before I read the book so it either makes me super excited or a little hesitant. I need to stop doing that. So, looking at what everyone thought they loved this book. So when I was asked to review it, I was all for it. Both the first book, Worshipped, and the second, Betrayed, have high ratings. I went into the first book with high hopes as well and I some-what enjoyed it…not as much as others. But, this isn’t what this review is about…it’s about the second installment. Betrayed wasn’t much more than Worshipped was. I think the high reviews that were surrounding […]

One by Sarah Crossan // Fantastic story that was heartbreaking, yet predictable…

ERICA’S REVIEW How exciting does this book sound? So exciting. It’s a book that you have never heard of before…or let me speak for myself, I have never heard of before. Conjoined twins, but…it’s so much more beyond that. The story of Tippi and Grace is wonderful and I will recommend this book (even though my rating is a measly 3 stars). Erica, why only 3 stars if it was such a wonderful story? 1. It was unbelievably predictable and that took away from my enjoyment. 2. The family aspect was a little…”eh.” 3.  The. Ending.

Lizzie Borden Took An Axe….

Lizzie Borden Took An Axe….

Lizzie Borden took an axe, and gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty one… Or did she? Confession Although I had heard the above poem before, I really didn’t know much more about Lizzie Borden and the Borden murders.  But, I’m kind of glad that I didn’t know the whole story before reading Sweet Madness because I went into this book almost clueless.  Well, except for the poem.  Also, because I didn’t know anything about what happened, I was able to completely invest myself into this story and form my own opinions. Now, I did go and do a little research about the Borden murders after finishing this book.  I […]

Finding Perfect by Kendra C. Highley // Characters that transformed into beautiful butterflies

ERICA’S REVIEW “Then I have an idea. And my ideas you definitely can trust–because they involve cookies.” How can you not love a book where cookies are involved…and seem like the best cookies, ever? This book was amazing…beyond the awesomeness off said cookies. I seriously cannot get enough of any kind of Entangled book. They are so unbelievably great and I seem to always finish as soon as I start. Though, this one seemed to take over the rest. What made this one different from the rest, Erica? 1. The amazing character growth. 2. A best friend who actually was a best friend. 3. Sticking up for what you believe in. The character growth was absolutely amazing. It happened to the […]

Middle graders with petty drama…depicted perfectly.

ERICA’S REVIEW Unfriended was just a good story, nothing spectacular, but it kept me engaged the whole time. It seems like 2.5 stars is super low, but there really isn’t much bad to say about this other than I am too old to have connected and it just didn’t sit well with me in the topics. what petty topics are you talking about Erica? 1.  Worrying about the popular table and if you will ever sit there 2. Friends getting mad for their friends trying to make new friends 3. Boys, boys, boys So, let’s start with the worrying about sitting at the popular table. C’mon. Okay. WAIT! Before I go on with this review, I think that if I were […]

Posted September 10, 2015 by Ink Ladies / 8 Comments

We were tagged by the lovely Lily @ ChaptersPagesWord and Lisa & Becca @ Lost In Lit for the Disney Princess Book Tag.  Some of the sections will probably be a little difficult but we’ll do our best 😀 Christy’s choices will be on the left and Erica on the right! Snow White Name Your Favorite Classic   Cinderella A Book That Kept You Reading Past Your Bedtime   Ariel A Book About Making Sacrifices and Fighting For Your Dreams   Erica: This one wasn’t necessarily about fighting for their dreams, but I think it fits. Aurora Favorite Classic Romance Christy: Not a huge fan of classics so I’ll be skipping this one :p Erica: I’m with Christy on this one…the classic was hard enough. Belle […]

The Accident Season | Co-Review

The Accident Season | Co-Review

Erica and I finished The Accident Season right around the same time and since we hadn’t done a co-review in a while, we thought we would do one for this book since we rated it the same.  We are going to do a discussion style review and we’ll break it down into categories: Plot, Characters, Romance, and our overall thoughts. Plot Christy: I liked the overall idea of the story, although it didn’t really come together until the end. But for me, it seemed kind of slow and it took me a while to get into it. Erica: I completely agree with Christy here. I was so intrigued with the whole idea of the story, but it fell through for me. […]
