Excerpt THE KIDS WALKING past Dave seemed to be in some other universe. They moved too quickly, they were too animated, they talked too loudly. They held on to their backpacks too tightly, checked themselves in tiny mirrors hanging on the inside of their lockers too often, acted as if everything mattered too much. Dave knew the truth: Nothing mattered. Nothing but the fact that when school was out for the day, he and Julia were going to spend the afternoon at Morro Bay. No one had told him that March of senior year would feel like it was made of Jell-O. After he’d received his acceptance letter from UCLA, high school had morphed into something he could basically see […]

Are you ready for another BATTLESHIP?! If you are interested in entering into the gauntlet you can enter here. You can go up against Christy and I, a friend, or a random opponent (which is pretty awesome). It’s Lily VS. Wren! Daemon & Katy Lux Series VS. Mackenzie Bishop & Wesley Ayers The Archived Why Lily chose Daemon & Katy? Where do I even start? First of all, Katy and Daemon are such great characters on their own but together it is just ten times better. They have such great dialogue which is so so SO entertaining and they make each other even better, more loveable characters. Daemon makes Katy stronger and Katy makes Daemon more compassionate and I loved that in these […]
Excerpt As much as I love music, I am generally not a fan of country. I don’t like banjos. I don’t like sappy lyrics about trucks and hauling hay. Dolly Parton is my mortal enemy—my mom plays “Jolene” over and over and over and over, and it makes me want to chop my ears off like van Gogh. Yeah, yeah, I’m from Tennessee, where it’s a crime if you don’t love country, but I like deep, rumbling beats and singing loud and fast and hard. I do not like closing my eyes and crooning to a cow in the pasture. Yet here I am at a Jesse Scott concert, getting ready to meet him and to see if he’ll let […]

Okay, both Christy and I were kind of disappointed in ourselves for not completing what we had wanted. Christy and her husband did some renovations in their kitchen and I hope she posts the pictures here for tomorrow because boy, the results are amazing. I have been having some family problems, but now…we are both getting back into it. We’re wrapping up what we read and what our favorites were… Erica’s final progress & favorite(s) So, the first book that I read was To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and boy, why did I wait this long to read that book? I loved it. I love contemporary and this just blew me away. Lara Jean was perfect, her family is perfect. […]
Review Here is a world where The Great Library is a major presence in every major city, and for us book lovers, that doesn’t sound too bad, right? Wrong. While The Great Library allows reading and learning, it has to be from an approved list and it’s downloaded on “Blanks”. Ownership of any books is strictly forbidden and trust me when I say you do not want to be caught with any books in your possession. Jess Brightwell, (our MC), is from a family that specializes in the book black market and even though Jess’s father is the mastermind behind the whole operation, he pulled his kids in early on. So when Jess gets offered a chance to become a […]
Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. Christy’s Haul Purchased/Traded: The Vincent Boys | The Vincent Brothers | Past Perfect | How to Fall | The Night She Disappeared | Compulsion | On Dublin Street | Frostfire |Every Last Word* *Thanks for the trade, Shannon!
Erica’s Review Anya and the Shy Guy is a book I definitely recommend you pick up. It is a quick, easy read that has you intrigued from the beginning. Anya is a girl who lived on the streets and never really had anything. She starts writing for a company and lands a huge job. She has to find some dirt on one of the band members of Seconds to Juliet. The band member she is set out to interview is Will Fray, the shy guy…or is he? Not really, Will Fray is actually Matt Fray, his twin brother. Will is away in rehab so Matt had to take over for him. Matt tries his hardest to act just like his twin, […]
Interview with B.T. Gottfred 1. Can you tell readers a little bit about Forever for a Year? Carolina and Trevor meet on the first day of high school and it’s an almost cosmic connection from the start. The book is told in alternating her/him chapters as they go on the mad, magical roller coaster that is first love. 2. What inspired you to write Forever for a Year? I was drawn to young adult novels because of the purity of emotion teenagers have. Adults feel all the same things, we just like to pretend we don’t by hiding beyond layers of rationalized repression. As for why this book exactly? Basically Carolina and Trevor got inside my head and they wouldn’t […]
I was tagged by the lovely Tonyalee over at Lily Bloom Books There are 3 rounds and each round I will use random numbers to choose 3 books and then I will decide which I will burn, rewrite or reread. (I tagged Erica so she would have to endure the torture that is this tag with me!) Christy’s Books Round 1 Burn: Dear Killer – The Perfect Killer wasn’t so perfect Rewrite: The Jewel – I would add in a little more world building. While I enjoyed this book, it didn’t have enough of that element for me. Reread: The Selection – I LOVE this series so naturally I have to pick it to reread. Round 2 This was kind of […]
