Discussion: A World Without Books

I was lucky enough to become a part of The Hundred. An advanced reading group for the book Blood, Ink & Fire – but, with a little twist. Here is a little background: Ashley Mansour selected one hundred readers from around the world to join The Hundred. Their mission is simple: get Blood, Ink & Fire into the hands of readers everywhere. From successful book bloggers and lit students, to teachers and parents, this diverse group shares a passion for reading and an enthusiasm for Blood, Ink & Fire she never could have imagined. Blog Tour: The Summer After You and Me by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski

Guest Post   What is your go-to place to write? We have condo less than one block from the ocean where we spend our summers.  It’s my favorite place in the world to be, and it’s also my go-to place to write.  I like to set up my laptop at the kitchen table, where I get a view of our neighbor’s built-in pool (yes, I pretend it’s mine) and a partial view of the ocean dunes.  Unfortunately, this is only my part-time place to write.  Most of the year, you’ll find me at a tiny writing desk in the corner of our kitchen.  My husband and I used to share a home office, but the togetherness was getting to be […]

An Open Letter to my YA Self + Giveaway

Ginger @ GReads is hosting an awesome feature, An Open Letter to my YA Self. As the name implies, this feature allows the participants to write a letter to their young adult self. All of the details and the full schedule can be found HERE.   Dear 16 year old Christy, The first thing I want to say to you is, it gets better. And no, I’m not lying to you (even though you probably think so right now), it’s true. I know it’s hard to imagine right now, but it gets better, I promise. That boy you thought was the love of your life? The one who made you stop believing in love, the one who ‘broke your heart’? […]

The Girl At Midnight by Melissa Grey

The Girl At Midnight by Melissa Grey

Review When I saw the cover for The Girl at Midnight, I was immediately intrigued and I knew that it was one that I HAD to read.  I was expecting great things from this debut, and while I enjoyed it, it didn’t ‘wow’ me like I was hoping. Echo, who is a pickpocket that has survived by selling the stolen goods that she steals, is living in a library when she is rescued by the Ala.  The Ala belongs to an ancient race of Avicen who take up residence beneath the streets of New York City.  The Avicen are magical race of people with feathers in place of hair.  They have been at war with the Drakhan for centuries.  When […]

Posted April 27, 2015 by Ink Ladies / 6 Comments

Mini-Challenge #1 Welcome to our first Mini-Challenge, guys! I am thrilled to start off the Booking into Spring Read-a-Thon with this challenge. I thought of doing a little Scattergories post. here’s how it goes: For those of you who have played Scattergories before (if you’re a board game addict like me, you probably have) it’s a game where a certain letter is ‘rolled’ or chosen and that will be the letter used for ‘Round 1.’ I will be holding two different rounds so we can use a different letter. After the letter is chosen, you guys will have different categories. Each category will be book-related and you guys will start the word with the letter chosen. If I’m rambling and […]

Stacking the Shelves (75)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews   Christy’s Haul Okay, so I had a total fangirl moment this week.  I MET KATIE MCGARRY! For those of you that don’t know, she is one of my favorite authors (Fun Fact: She’s also the most reviewed author on the blog) and the fact that she took the time to meet with me absolutely made my day.   I was so nervous, my thoughts were a mess and things I wanted to say or ask, I didn’t and in all honestly, I probably came off more awkward than I already am, but she is absolutely amazing and she’s so incredibly nice and down to earth!  I was at my nursing clinicals so I bribed […]

Blog Tour: The Truth About Jack by Jody Gehrman

I want to give a big thanks to the author and YA Bound Book Tours for this book – it was amazing. This book was finished so quickly by me. Yes, it may have taken a few days to read, but my family was disturbing me a little too much, hehe. I devoured it, in the time allotted. I loved every inch of this book. The characters were wonderful, especially Dakota, and I just didn’t want the story to end. I really loved Dakota, mainly because she gave hope to us girls out there. She was betrayed and she just kept on fighting. I mean sure, she was so heart-broken at first, but she didn’t play the card of “everyone feel […]

Find Me Tag

Erica and I love doing tags and challenges, and we are always looking for new ones to participate in, whether it’s on the blog or Instagram.  So, since we love them, we thought it would be fun to create our own tag! How it works We are going to list 10 categories and you have to find one book in each category! You can either list the titles of the book, or the pictures, really whatever you want to do, it’s totally up to you! You can also tag as many people as you want, but those who are tagged are not obligated to do it! The only thing we ask is that you link back to Novel Ink 🙂 Let’s […]
